12 Most Anxiety-Inducing Sci-Fi TV Shows EVER

9. Black Mirror

TV Go Home critic Charlie Brooker's critically acclaimed Channel 4 anthology show may not be as profoundly intelligent and daring in its satirical punches as its obvious inspiration, Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone.

After all, Serling's show saw the blacklisted writer rage against censorship, the overpowered police state, and the perils of capitalism run amok, where much of Black Mirror's scariest moments are rooted in some form of "god, you're always on that phone, aren't you".

But what terrifying moments they are, as even the harshest critic is forced to admit that many of the show's more stomach-knotting instalments are almost unbearably tense and, with many bleak endings abounding throughout the series, there's never any guarantee things will turn out okay.
