11. The Hand - The Defenders
In 2017 Marvel Studios decided to give superhero team-ups a try on TV. After all, it had gone so well for them on the big screen, and their TV lineup consisting of the likes of Daredevil and Luke Cage was more or less well received. Thus, the Defenders was conceived.
Standing opposite Daredevil, Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist as the chief antagonists though, were a shadowy organization who influenced world affairs for centuries: the Hand.
The Hand’s main mission goal is their continued survival. They do so by harvesting a special substance from the dragon skeletons located in the mystical city of K’un Lun, which grants them biological immortality.
They had been doing this centuries, throughout which their power over the world had continued to grow.
The five members, or fingers as they say, of the Hand try to take their nefarious plots to the next level when they come up against the titular heroes. In the end, Iron Fist and co. prevail, but barely. And even that came at the supposed expense of Matt Murdoch’s life.
