8. Daybreak

Im Not Okay With This
Netflix

We've all had our fill of zombie dramas over the past decade, so it'd be understandable if you dismissed Daybreak as just more of the same, but the truth is that it's anything but.

A subversive (and meta) dark comedy, it centers on a rag-tag group of misfit teenagers who - kid you not - think that the end of the world is the best thing ever because it finally allows them to express themselves in a way that the constrictions of society never would. And they're all thriving because of it, with the town of Glendale segregated in multiple different gangs - all ran by prominent former high school students.

An easy binge of just 10 episodes, Daybreak smoothly rolls along as it tells an unexpectedly witty tale, full of charm, humour and even a little bit of heart. It's intentionally over-the-top and very enjoyable because of it.

Shame on Netflix for not giving it more of a chance before cancelling it. And unfortunately we can say the same about its treatment of the next entry too...
