12 Ridiculous Ways TV Characters Were Brought Back From The Dead

2. They Chopped Off My Head...My Mistake! It Was Just A Flesh Wound €“ Sara Tancredi (Prison Break)

So infamous that even those who haven't even seen all of Prison Break know about. Despite being the romantic interest of series lead Michael, her character was written out at the end of season two due to the actress Sarah Wayne Callies falling pregnant. Rather than taking the Gillian Anderson-approach to storytelling and writing the story arc around her pregnancy, Sara Tancredi was written out of the show; first as hostage of the series' evil organisation The Company and then killed off screen early in season three. To make sure audiences certain there was no question of Sara returning to the show, they even had her head turn up in a box. As gruesome and tragic as it was, there was no question that her time on the show was over. Audiences simply had to move on. Oh wait, there was season four and suddenly Sara was back in the show. It turns out her death (head in a box and all) was faked, making the whole premise surrounding her murder last season ridiculous. Had the writers chosen to kill her off screen with no evidence to suggest otherwise, the open question over her death may have made her resurrection all the more believable. But physically showing her decapitated head? The show had written itself into a corner and they had no choice but to retcon their mistakes.
