12 Scariest Doctor Who Episodes

5. The Family Of Blood

family of blood

The family are spooky. They talk freaky, they take over people's bodies, they have an army of scarecrows. They murder indiscriminately, they will stop at nothing to get our hero--our hero who is helpless, his mind and his ability to fight gone. They alone are enough to keep any child up all night. But what's really scary about this episode isn't the monsters. It's the Doctor. He is responsible for all the deaths that occur in this episode. He came there "on a whim," and innocent men women and children died. The end of this one always gives me chills, as the Doctor's punishments for the family are laid out. The sister in the mirror, who if you look you can see in every mirror, moving in the background. The mother falling forever into a dying star. The father eternally wrapped in chains. And the son, standing as a scarecrow over the fields of England. All of them, left like that, forever, by the Doctor. "We wanted to live forever."
