12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching Gilmore Girls
1. Lorelai's Arm Around Rory
Throughout season one, we often see Lorelai’s arm around Rory as part of a motherly gesture to her introverted daughter.
However, it is more than just a way of comforting her child. Behind the scenes, this was Alexis Bledel’s first ever acting role which is why Lauren Graham often acted like a mentor to her, in order to help guide her through the process of filming for television. Her arm around her shoulder is actually Graham showing Bledel to her next position.
This subtle motion was eventually phased out of the show from season two onwards as Rory gradually grew in confidence, just as much as her actress Alexis became more experienced on how filming on set works.
