12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching Parks & Recreation
2. Episode 1's Drunk Becomes A Stand-Up Citizen
While the first two seasons of Parks and Rec are still enjoyable, the show as fans remember it only really begins to take shape from the third year onwards. Consequently, it's understandable to think that a lot of the elements the show focused on while it was finding its feet (like Mark, for instance) would be swept under the rug and never mentioned again.
That couldn't be further from the truth, however, and the series finale includes one particularly ridiculous reference to the pilot. Leslie's very first on-screen task has her trying to clean up a local play area in a park, where a drunkard has gotten himself stuck in the slide. The man isn't seen again until the very final episode where he appears, having gotten his life together, in a meeting with Leslie asking for a swing to be fixed.
It's a great way to bookend the show, with the man involved in her very first job being the one to give her her final task. As mentioned previously, even characters who only show up in two scenes over seven years are given great characters development in this series.
