12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching The Walking Dead

Back in Season Five when we first meet Father Gabriel Stokes, we find our heroes in his church. Gabriel is at this point a coward who is clearly hiding something. But Gabriel isn't the focus of this entry. Rather, the verses listed in his church are.

Romans 6:4, Ezekiel 37:7, Matthew 27:52, Revelation 9:6 and Luke 24:5 all reference death. Most notably, Romans and Matthew both speak of the bodies of the dead coming back to walk the earth. Again, this is one of those subtle and clever references only some will have picked up on as they watched the show, and the kind of clever production design that lets us know how passionate and detailed the crew are. It's a nice touch of darkly comic irony that you can't help smirk at given the situation.

Also, Ezekiel 37:7 may be a nice little nod to everyone's favourite king, who had yet to appear on the show but whose presence was definitely highly anticipated by fans of the comics.
