12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching The Walking Dead
4. Breaking Bad
This is a detail which has picked up some traction over recent years, but it still seems like one which should be noted all the same.
Breaking Bad was first referenced in Season Two. T-Dog had cut his arm badly and needed medicine, and Daryl jumped to the rescue by sifting through his brother's medicine bag. In the bag, fans can spot some blue crystals, reminiscent of Walter White's meth on the other hit show. A more clear reference was given in the Season Four episode "Still", when Daryl tells Beth about how he and Merle used to spend their time, including a day when they were went to a house party and were threatened by someone who called them "Bitch."
If you've seen Breaking Bad, watching this episode will definitely have struck a chord and reminded you of the lovable wreck Jesse Pinkman. Some fans speculate that Breaking Bad is a prequel to the hit zombie show, even going as far as pointing out that the car Glenn drives in Season One is the same make and model as Walt Jr's. Plus, AMC produced both shows, so who's to say there isn't some kind of connection?
Whether any of this is intended to mean it's a prequel is a matter for debate, but it's fun to wonder what Jesse would get up to in the apocalypse, isn't it?
