12 Stupidest Decisions By Star Trek Characters
1. Nero And Romulus; Star Trek 2009
This one would have made for a super short movie but it does class as one large and rather stupid decision.
The whole premise of the 2009 movie is that Nero is seeking revenge for the destruction of Romulus and the inability of Ambassador Spock to save his people when Hobus went supernova a little earlier than expected.
Nero has the ultimate advantage and travels back in time arriving a quarter of a century ahead of Ambassador Spock who was also caught in the rift effects. That gives Nero more than enough time to plot his revenge on the Vulcan and...
Rewind. Nero... has the advantage of traveling back 90 years to a time well before the supernova and then spends 25 years waiting for Spock. So he spends that time just preparing, polishing his phaser, and setting up a cunning plan... that's it?!
Even taking into consideration the "lost" time the Romulans spent on Rura Penthe (deleted scene) this still allows a lot of leeway to perhaps contact Romulus and let them know about the events that are due. This could in turn lead to the salvation of its civilisation and make Nero the hero of the day. We know that this is already an alternative timeline created by the arrival of the Narada so changing history isn't really the concern.
