When BoJack Horseman finally came to the realisation that he could not, (and would not) write his own book, Diane Nguyen was brought in to ghost write for him. From the get go, BoJack felt uncomfortable with this stranger writing about him, but the two ultimately agreed to a no nonsense, in depth look at his life, warts and all.

However, BoJack was very reluctant to give any sort of details that didn't paint him in a particularly positive light, instead skipping over details or asking that certain things be left out of the book.

Months later, after the two grew close as friends and the interviews had given Diane enough to write about, she submitted to him her first draft. BoJack read what had been written about him, immediately hated it, and completely flipped out on his friend.

Yes, One Trick Pony may not have been the most complimentary book toward BoJack or his character, but it is absolutely what he agreed the book should be. Warts and all. The way he treated Diane after reading the book was deplorable, as he gave her a barrage of verbal abuse and ordered her to rewrite the whole thing, instead of speaking to her in the way that any normal friend would.
