9. Krusty's Discovery That His Dad Did Like His Humour
Episode: Season 26 - "Clown in the Dumps" It wasn't a stellar episode, and wasn't wall-to-wall laughs or anything close. And when the producers of The Simpsons teased that a character would be killed off, Rabbi Krustofski (voiced over the years by Jackie Mason) wasn't who we had in mind as being a character that would have "impact" after his loss. Heck it wasn't even close to the best episode this season (Simpsorama, Opposites A-Frack, Treehouse of Horror XXV, and The Wreck of the Relationship are all better episodes). Yet there was something fulfilling about Krusty's journey to the discovery that his dad might have actually found him funny. Time Magazine wrote that it was "a fitting, sweet conclusion to the story of Hyman and Herschel" and we couldn't agree more. There are very few threads that have really been brought back, or tied up, over the years on The Simpsons. This is one that actually paid off, even if the material wasn't exactly what we wanted in a season opener.
