Back in 1985, Steven Spielberg brought his unique storytelling style to television in the form of Amazing Stories. Spielberg created, and executive produced the show for two seasons, and it appears it will be making a return to television more than 20 years after going off the air in 1987.

Amazing Stories was an anthology show comprised of stories that had nothing to do with one another, which made the series feel like each episode was its own unique film. While Spielberg directed some episodes, most were helmed by others working in the industry at the time.

The list of directors tapped for Amazing Stories includes Irvin Kershner, Timothy Hutton, Danny DeVito, Robert Zemekis, Burt Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, and many more. The show was tapped for a reboot back in 2015 with Bryan Fuller on board to write the pilot, but that project never manifested.

In October 2017, Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television division made a deal with NBC Universal and Apple Inc. to develop a new series for Apple TV+. The creators of ABC's Once Upon a Time are on board for development and writing. As of late 2019, there were no details released as to when the show might stream, but it could happen as early as 2020.
