12 Upcoming New HBO Series To Be Excited About

9. Curb Your Enthusiasm

Admittedly, this is not a new show but rather a tenth season of one of HBO’s stalwarts. But the announcement of the January release date for the tenth instalment of Larry David’s cringe comedy masterpiece was surprising enough to merit inclusion on this list - and if you can’t celebrate a new series of Curb Your Enthusiasm, then what can you celebrate?

Besides, Larry David’s creative process is freewheeling enough that every season is essentially its own self contained unit. He has creative carte blanche at HBO, doing what he wants, when he wants. If he wants to centre a season around a Seinfeld reunion, he does so.

If he wants to hide out with Salman Rushdie out of fear of a fatwa, then that’s fine, too. HBO simply leave him to it - a smart move, as David is one of the greatest comedic minds on the face of the earth, even at his advanced age. As usual, little is known as to the content of the season, which is the best way to go into the show. We trust Larry David to bring the goods.

Sadly, Bob Einstein (the irreplaceable Marty Funkhauser) is no longer with us, but we can rely on the likes of Leon, Susie, Richard Lewis, and of course LD himself to bring us another batch of episodes to watch, occasionally through our fingers. They say you should quit while you’re ahead - in Larry David’s case, here’s hoping he never does.
