12 Worst Things That Ever Happened To BoJack Horseman
10. Kelsey Was Fired From Secretariat
Secretariat was a movie that BoJack Horseman had wanted to make for 30 years. It was just about the only career goal he ever had, and it should have been the pinnacle of his working life, however actually making the movie was a nightmare.
The studio decided to make wholesale changes to the story that BoJack cared so much about, including removing the emotional climax of the whole thing. BoJack convinced director Kelsey Jannings to steal away and shoot the scene without the producer’s knowledge, and even though they nailed it, she was sacked.
This had a devastating knock on effect. She was replaced with Abe, who didn’t care about the movie like Kelsey did, and after a misunderstanding with BoJack, stalled production so that the star couldn’t go to New York for the summer and work on a play with Jill Pill.
His disillusionment with Secretariat after Kelsey was fired, and the fallout of breaking up with Wanda, became too much for BoJack, and he escaped LA to New Mexico. The film was finished without him, as the incident with Penny in New Mexico almost ruined both of their lives. Had Kelsey kept her job, none of this would have happened.
