What do you do when the star of your hit action movie franchise finally ages out of the role? Reboot it as a TV prequel with a younger, lesser-known actor, of course.

Taken is nothing more than a cynical attempt to cash-in on the success of the Liam Neeson-starring movie trilogy, yet beyond the name it could essentially be any number of generic spy action TV serials.

There's little fan service appeal for those who enjoyed the movies, Clive Standen gives a rather boring performance and even the action lacks the propulsive quality of the films, so honestly, what's the point?

Even though the series has been largely panned by critics, ratings held relatively well throughout its first season, and so NBC has commissioned a 16-episode second go-around.
