1. Insatiable

And finally, we have Netflix's wildly controversial dramedy Insatiable, which is without question the most tone-deaf and ill-thought-out series the streaming giant has commissioned in years, if not ever.

The premise doesn't exactly inspire much confidence - a fat girl (Debbie Ryan) has her jaw wired shut after a homeless man punches her in the face while trying to steal her snacks, causing her to lose a ton of weight and become a vengeful "skinny girl."

In the first 30 seconds of the season premiere, thin, well-adjusted people are referred to as "b****es", and while Ryan's Patty ultimately isn't meant to be likeable, the show's tonal car crash of an agenda fails to do anything entertaining or successfully satirical with the set-up.

Some quarters criticised the show both for fat-shaming and casting a naturally thin actress in the central role, but the real problem with this mean-spirited dumpster fire is that it's neither funny nor even basically entertaining.

The controversy clearly paid off in viewing metrics, though, as Netflix has already commissioned a second season.
