7. MTV Live Events - ODB & Thom Yorke

The premiere events calendar of the music channel that doesn't actually play music anymore has almost led to the deaths of two musicians during on-air performances. The first was Ol' Dirty Bastard, who almost went up in flames at the 1998 ceremony in a pyrotechnic-related accident that was narrowly averted when Pras pulled him out of the way in the nick of time.

The second incident, which happened live during MTV's Spring Break, almost put paid to Radiohead's lead singer Thom Yorke, who jumped into a swimming pool, and promptly started to drown.

None of his bandmates noticed, and he made his way to the side, only to almost touch a live microphone, which would have electrocuted him if an MTV VJ hadn't seen it and kicked it out of his grasp.
