Key Appearances: Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Finally, the most awesome ship ever shown in the Star Trek universe, the Defiant was the Federation's only spaceship to be designed exclusively for combat. Designed as part of a program to combat the Borg, the Defiant-class was loaded with weaponry but was simultaneously one of the fastest and most maneuverable ships in the quadrant. Almost every kind of comfort was eschewed in the design, resulting in perhaps the most powerful ship in Starfleet, despite its relatively diminutive size. The Defiant was especially notable for being the only Federation ship to be fitted with a cloaking device as the Romulans made an exception in return for Federation intelligence on the Dominion. The Defiant featured prominently in Deep Space Nine, appearing in 67 episodes, where it played a key role in repelling the Dominion. The Defiant also appeared in First Contact where it helped repel a Borg attack. Featuring a design unlike any other Federation ship, the Defiant is the most awesome ship in the Star Trek universe as it looks incredible and performs even better.
