8. Father/Son/Daughter
Technically three characters, the Father, the Son and the Daughter brought a darkness to the show that hadn't yet been seen, and their role remains of the more important arcs of the series. The three are beings, living on the mysterious planet of Mortis, who exist as living embodiments of the Force.
Believing Anakin to be the Chosen One, the Father tries to recruit him to keep the Son (the Dark Side) and the Daughter (the Light Side) from becoming unbalanced and changing the fate of the galaxy. The entire arc is incredible and gripping thanks to these three beings, and they serve as a reminder that the galaxy isn't just good versus evil; there are bigger powers at play.
The lore and history brought to the Star Wars franchise by these characters is one of the show's best achievements, and gives fans a chance to see another reason why Anakin was lost to the Dark Side.
The Son stole the show from the others, especially in the last moments of the arc, as he shows Anakin his future and reminds the audience that The Clone Wars will not have a happy ending, despite what we want to believe.
