13 Characters That Should Appear In The Supernatural Spinoff

3. Eliot Ness

eliotLocation: All over the place, although he's got famous ties to Chicago First Appearance: Season 7, Episode 12 Played by: Nicholas Lea Making the hard-boiled historical enforcer Eliot Ness a hunter of monsters was a stroke of genius in the otherwise muddled season 7. The fact he was played by X-Files alum Nicholas Lea only added to the effect, and the result was one of the best portraits of a warrior for good that the show had. To get around the little issue of Ness being a fixture of the 1940's, Dean was sent back in time via the Chronos, where he met Ness and the two hunted the ex-God together. One of the most notable aspects of the episode was Ness' commitment to the fight against evil for altruistic purposes as opposed to being initiated into it by tragedy. When Dean asks him who died to make him a hunter, he retorted with " Nobody died, you morbid son of a bitch. I started doing this 'cause vampires were turning folks in Cleveland." His ethos was reflected in the statement "Everybody loses everybody and then one day, boom. Your number's up. But at least you're making a difference. So enjoy it while it lasts because hunting is the only clarity you're going to find in this life." At the time he was there to give Dean the usual kick in the pants, to keep him directed shortly after the loss of Bobby. Still, Ness could be a really interesting character if he was displaced from his time and thrown into a modern Chicago where his exploits are remembered as legend. Having Eliot Ness join a crew of present-day hunters would be like giving the series its own Captain America. Even if he's not a series regular, I can't say I don't want to at least see Ness have one more arc, preferably busting heads in his old stomping grounds.
