1. Charlie Bradbury
Location: Originally from Chicago
First Appearance: Season 7. Episode 20 "The Girl With The Dungeon and Dragon's Tattoo"
Played by: Felicia Day When Charlie Bradbury first showed up, it was clear her presence was a bone (boner works too) thrown to the uber-geek crowd, be they male or female. Everything about her, from the combo aliases--first name is a Stephen King character, second a famous SF writer--to the fact she's a computer-hacking lesbian with ties to LARPing and Comic-Con, feels like she was ported right out of a 12-year old nerd's mind. Casting Felicia Day, who's got her share of specifically geeky conquests to her name, pretty much sealed the deal. There was no way we were ever gonna take this girl seriously. And mostly, we haven't. Charlie is often a bit too referential and sassy, and often the writers seem to be trying too hard, but her appearances are always fun and she's got a spunky little sister camaraderie with the Winchesters. Still, as the curtain closed on her last episode, "Pac Man Fever" and Charlie had to significantly grow up and deal with the pain of her reality, as well as acknowledging where her love of geek culture began, the character gained some pathos and direction. It really felt like she was being plucked out of the woodwork for greater things. She's been on the run for awhile, and it seems like her metaphorical running might be over. Would it be too obvious to see her come back to her hometown and take up with a coed group of monsters and hunters? I don't think so, and what's more, despite the claims that we won't have any returning characters, my money is that Charlie absolutely will be a part of this new spinoff if it actually goes beyond the backdoor pilot. What do you think of these choices? Wishful thinking? Worthwhile attempts? Who would you like to see appear on the spinoff, even if it were only temporarily?
