13 Characters That Should Appear In The Supernatural Spinoff

9. Balthazar

balthazarLocation: Probably dead First Appearance: Season 6, Episode 3 "The Third Man" Played by: Sebastian Roche Yes, I realize that Balthazar has likely gone the same way as many other angels on the show, including Gabriel, Anna Milton and Uriel. He was seen being run through with an Angel Sword by his comrade Castiel in the season six finale, when the power-hungry angel interpreted his choice to help the Winchesters as betrayal. There's been plenty of speculation, due to the edited nature of the death scene, on whether Balthazar was really killed or not. It's always seemed inconsistent to me that Castiel express such regret at killing his brethren whilst the Leviathans controlled him, but has never mentioned literally backstabbing Balthazar while he was seemingly in charge of his senses. All of that aside, it wouldn't matter to me if we saw Balthazar literally atomized in front of us, I'd still be calling for his inclusion in a spin-off. The Angel problem is going to get very interesting in season 9, changing almost everything we've experienced previously concerning the winged emissaries of the Lord. They were literally falling from Heaven by the boatloads in the last scene of the season finale and with so many grounded angels, it's going to be hard to get around their presence in any potential spin-off. Castiel is the most relational angel on the show, but I don't think he's going to be leaving Supernatural, as he's so tied to the Winchesters and their story. In lieu of Castiel, Roche's Balthazar would be a fantastic and amusingly droll presence on a spin-off, giving us a glimpse into angel dynamics and keeping that aspect of the mythology open, while really adding a sense of sarcasm and wit to any potential team. The busy Roche, who seems involved in nearly every genre show out there, may not have time for a full season, but dropping in like Cas did in the early days of his Supernatural gig might be just the ticket to get people on board for a new show. Lets remember too that this is a character who successfully faked his death for over a year, so it's not impossible he's out there just biding his time.
