13 CW Actors Who Deserve An Emmy Nomination

10. Jesse Rath - Supergirl

Jon Cryer Supergirl
The CW

Following his recurring stint last year, Jesse Rath's full-time introduction into Supergirl's fourth season was everything that it should have been. The perfect supporting actor, his character Brainiac-5 was there to provide the Girl of Steel with all the information that she needed, and his robotic nature has always lent itself nicely to some of the show's more humorous moments.

The mix of his dry wit and Rath's exceptional deadpan delivery saw Brainy become the funniest character on the show. However, as the 12th-level intellect found himself becoming more and more human, it provided Rath with the opportunity to show us another side to his talents - and that was an opportunity that he didn't waste.

His emotional portrayal of the character's "boxes" dilemma was one of the season's quiet stunners, but it was his powerful delivery of Brainy's breakdown in the season finale that unexpectedly solidified him as one of The CW's heaviest hitters.

As the techno-organic being malfunctioned, unable to reconcile his techno with his organic, Rath was presented with a monster of a scene and there is no doubt about it, he nailed it. He was powerful and erratic and yet quiet and subtle, he was everything that the scene required him to be and he stood out among the rest, revealing himself as the show's best kept secret - and that was in a season that was already full of impressive offerings.

Rath is always great with the comedy stuff, but here, he was nothing short of superb.
