5. Enoch "Nucky" Thomspon - Boardwalk Empire

Nucky Thompson developed into the perfect portrait of the cold blooded gangster throughout the run time of Boardwalk Empire: where in the first season he was mostly concerned with his political power as the treasurer of Atlantic City, he soon became a bootlegger not afraid of threatening and killing those closest to him. Among the most despicable things he's done is when he had Margaret's husband killed to get her attention; he has fixed elections, forced his brother to go to prison to protect himself, ordered a whole bunch of murders and eventually killed Jimmy himself. After Margaret left him due to the many horrible things he did, Nucky lost the last bit of kindness he had left, and became the full monster he always had the potential to become. The list awful things Nucky's done goes on and on, but one must make do if one wants to stay at the top of the bootlegging business, it would appear.
