13 More TV Shows Already Cancelled In 2019 (And Why)

4. Designated Survivor

Sometimes, shows being revived after initial cancellation leads to new life that's even more successful than the first time round. It happened with Family Guy (like twice) and more recently with Brooklyn Nine-Nine and arguably also Lucifer, but it can't always happen.

Despite riding in to save Designated Survivor with a third season, Netflix has decided against a fourth, following in ABC's wake and cancelling the show after its 10-episode revival. Apparently, it wasn't down to ratings, which makes sense since Designated Survivor was listed among Netflix's most-watched shows after its debut and critics responded well too.

For Sutherland, the issue was the complicated contracts they signed and the fact that Netflix failed to book a lot of the actors for a potential fourth season - instead only putting together one year deals - and they've all moved on elsewhere. A show can't go on without its cast, plainly.
