13 More TV Shows Already Cancelled In 2019 (And Why)

3. Happy!

Happy! Christopher Meloni
SyFy

Like Baskets, it's hard not to feel that Happy! was slept on somewhat by potential audiences who could have loved it and who could have extended its life as a result.

Based on Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson's comic, the SyFy show was genuinely brilliant, melding pitch black comedy with fantasy elements and the typical pillars of a conventional crime show in one big, swoon-inducing pudding.

Sadly, the cancellation isn't a surprise, because ratings really hit the skids. The second season averaged just 286,000 viewers - which amounted to a fairly catastrophic 57% drop in viewers on the first season.

As a glimmer of hope, Universal Content Productions apparently plans to shop the series to other networks and the first season's strong performance on Netflix might hold some hope.
