After the disappointment of Apocalypse, 2017 has been a big year for Fox's X-Men universe: with Logan, they delivered one of the greatest superhero movies ever made, and then with Legion one of the best (and weirdest) Marvel TV shows to date.

There are no more X-movies to come this year, but there is one more TV show: The Gifted, which has been created by Matt Nix (Burn Notice), with a pilot directed by none other than Bryan Singer.

The series, which stars Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and Amy Acker (Angel), sees a family go on the run from the government after it turns out their kids have mutant powers, and join up with an underground connection of mutants.

Like with Legion, its exact place in the X-Men universe is being kept vague, but it definitely exists somewhere within there. What's more, there will be X-Men characters that people know in the series, such as Blink, while the Sentinels will also feature - and there'll be a Stan Lee cameo in the pilot.

It's one of the most exciting new fall shows of any genre, and with a talented cast and crew has plenty to succeed.

Air Date: October 2, 2017
