11. The Tick

To some audiences, we've already had the definitive version of blue-suited superhero The Tick, thanks to Patrick Warburton's well-received but short-lived time in the costume back in 2011.

Amazon, however, will be hoping there's enough nostalgia to mean there's a real appetite for a new version, while delivering a fresh twist on the character too. It's an unlikely choice for the streaming service to get in on the comic book genre, but potentially an inspired one, especially with the casting of Peter Serafinowicz in the title role.

The focus here is actually on sidekick Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman), an accountant with no superpowers of his own. With his city owned by a believed dead supervillain - The Terror, played by Jackie Earle Haley - he teams up with The Tick to take him down.

Created by and written by Ben Edlund, there should be plenty here that's faithful to the comics, while giving it a bit of a darker edge too, making for one of the whackier comic book series around.

Air Date: August 18, 2017
