9. Runaways

The Runaways Hulu
Marvel Comics/Hulu

By the time it hits screens, Runaways will have been a decade in the making. Brian K. Vaughan, who created the eponymous comic series, was hired by Marvel back in 2008 to write a film script based around the group, and a couple of years later Drew Pearce was hired to redraft, with Peter Sollett brought in to direct. Plans were shelved after the success of the Avengers, but it's remained something Marvel have been interested in ever since, and now it's finally happening via Hulu (who are also getting in on the comic book action with their adaptation of Postal).

It sees six teenagers from diverse background come together against their common enemy, a villainous group known as the Pride - who just so happen to be their parents.

While the teens are mostly a cast of unknowns, there are some recognisable faces among the Pride, best of all being Buffy's James Masters. It'll be interesting to see how the powers are handled, but Hulu are an emerging force (see: The Handmaid's Tale), and with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl) bringing it to the screen, it should nail the teenage aspect, which in turn should make for a fresh entry into the genre.

Air Date: TBC, 2018.
