Another adaptation of a comic by Brian K. Vaughan (who created this alongside artist Pia Guerra), it's also another one that was long-touted for a movie version, before finding its home on television.

Y: The Last Man centres on Yorick Brown, the last human man alive after a plague wipes out ever mammal with a 'Y' chromosome. Along with Yorick, his male monkey - called Ampersand - also survived, and together they team up with a secret agent and a scientist on an adventure to save mankind.

FX, who have made a name for themselves as the home for some of the best, most daring and original series on TV, have picked it up, with Vaughan teaming up with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of studio Color Force to make the show. Word on the series has been quiet recently, but last year it was announced that Michael Green (co-creator of American Gods, writer of Logan) would serve as showrunner.
