13 Most Shocking Breaking Bad Moments

6. The Cartel Massacre

Breaking Bad Jesse
AMC

We've already touched on Gus, his boxcutter moment and his demise, so here's a final reminder of just how evil, calculating and terrifying a villain he really is.

In the tenth episode of Season Four, Jesse, Mike and Gus meet up with Don Eladio and his cartel members, where Gus and the Don make peace over a former feud, during which Eladio had Gus' business partner killed. As the cartel drink some tequila, Gus briefly leaves, goes to the bathroom, and vomits. Outside, Eladio and the cartel begin to drop dead, all of them poisoned.

As it turns out, Gus has been plotting revenge against the Don for years, and thanks to Walt and Jesse's meth he finally had an opportunity to come face to face with his old rival.

It's an expertly crafted scene, designed to make you aware that something bad is about to happen, and yet when it does it is so much bigger and more shocking than you ever expected. It's also a perfect example of just how cruel and ingenious Gus Fring is. A TV villain for the ages.
