13 Reasons Why 13 Reasons Why's Final Season Is A Complete Trainwreck

11. Justin's Death Was Completely Pointless

13 Reasons Why Season 4
Netflix

Justin's (Brandon Flynn) death was very well-acted and undeniably powerful, but what was the point of it?

Justin's journey throughout the show has been to overcome drug addiction and his many personal problems and to have him go through all of that only to kill him off is not good writing. It's not a satisfying, meaningful end to his journey; frankly, it's just a cruel, cheap way of trying to make the audience cry one last time.

If they had really insisted on killing yet another character off, they should've gone with one of the adults. That could've been really powerful and it would've felt more natural, while there could be some good scenes of the young characters overcoming the grief. Justin was not the right choice and he deserved so much better.
