13 Reasons Why Season 3: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

Monty, as always, played an antagonistic role this season, as he continued to bully and intimidate Tyler Down in the hallways of Liberty High School while riling up everyone else. However, the writers set aside some time to delve into the troubled backstory they alluded to last season, revealing that the character was secretly struggling to accept his attraction to men.

Unfortunately for him, he wasn't able to overcome his struggles in order to accept who he was, and thus continued to make life a living hell for Tyler. While he paid for his abuse through imprisonment (after Tyler reported his heinous actions to the sheriff), he was sadly killed off before he could redeem himself.

This all made Monty's character journey hard to judge. While we did sympathise with what he was going through, and how his circumstances made it impossible for him to change, the fact that most of his personal struggles took place off-screen made it hard to overlook his one-dimensional bully behaviour in the hallways.
