While the camerawork was undoubtedly impressive (don't worry, we'll get to that), the teaser also relied heavily on narration, as a mysterious British voice reminded viewers of the flaws that lie within those at Liberty High.

Since the beginning, 13 Reasons Why has used narration as a plot device to convey information. In Season 1, the voiceover was actually just Hannah's voice from the tapes, as she enlightened viewers as to what happened to her. The second season experimented with a number of different voiceover techniques, using the trial as a basis, and although it wasn't always ideal, it was still effective - simply because it was directly related to Hannah.

Guess why the narration in the Season 3 trailer doesn't work? First of all, we don't know this person and... oh yeah, no Hannah.
