13 Reasons Why Season 4: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
5. Jessica Davis
Jessica Davis has become the show's biggest symbol of empowerment. A young woman standing up for victims of sexual assault - a voice of the voiceless, if you will - she has devoted herself to getting sh*t done over the past couple of seasons and truly making people listen to those who are ignored far too often. And this has ultimately seen her grow into one of the - if not the - strongest characters on the show.
That being said, this season her arc was a little hit-and-miss early on. Whether she was continually pushing her friends away, reaching out to them only when she needed something from them or ignoring advice when it came to avoiding those who wished to do them harm, Jessica's actions were a little all over the place. And while that's completely understandable for someone attempting to figure themselves out in a nightmarish high school experience, it came off like the show wasn't as sure what to do with her this time around.
She did, however, return to herself before the season's end, inspiring people in the way that she was renowned for, standing up to the oppressive authority and delivering a remarkable speech at graduation. These were glimpses of the Jessica we've all come to admire and, even though she wasn't there all season, it was nice to see the character go out on the high that she deserves.
