13 Reasons Why Season 4 Trailer Review: 4 Ups & 4 Downs
2. Give Up The Ghosts
13 Reasons Why has had a lot of problematic storylines, but its weakest offering was by far its second season. A season that ultimately failed to justify the return of a show that was only supposed to be one-and-done, it was too terrified to let go of Katherine Langford's Hannah Baker - a position it would never have been in if it hadn't returned for a second season.
The utilisation of Hannah's ghost certainly made way for a number of moving moments towards the end of the season, but it was also a highly-problematic plot device relied on solely for exposition and convenience.
The appearance of both Bryce Walker and Monty de la Cruz's ghosts in the trailer might just be an effective method of capitalising on each character's inability to trust what's in front of them, but it could also suggest that we're about to revisit everything that didn't work in Season 2.
Let's just hope that isn't the case.
