13 Upcoming Netflix Original Shows To Be Excited About

5. A Series Of Unfortunate Events

The film of Lemony Snicket€™s A Series of Unfortunate Events wasn€™t a disaster by any means, but with just one film it didn€™t get to fully explore the bad luck and misery that falls upon the poor Baudelaire orphans across the 13-book series. Now, over a decade removed from the movie, Netflix are turning it into a TV show.

When the news was first announced, Snicket had this to say: €œI can€™t believe it. After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books.€

Details are scarce at the moment, but on paper it sounds like a great idea. A TV series will be able to really delve into the source material and expand the characters, especially given the rather episodic nature of the books, and it€™ll be interesting to see just how they handle it. Will one series be an entire book, or just a few episodes, or could they even try and cram it all into one season? Hopefully it won€™t be too long a wait before we find out.
