14 Things Fox Wants You To Forget About The Simpsons

11. Dead Bart

The Simpsons Dead Bart
Fox

Pivoting slightly here from the direction of the others, because this isn't something that Fox and The Simpsons producers actually put out there, but has become one of the biggest urban legends around the show.

The story goes that there is a missing episode of The Simpsons, in which Bart dies from a plane crash in horrifically realistic fashion. It goes on to say that the family visited Bart's grave, where they started crying, and then all of the gravestones had the names of Simpsons guest stars past and even future, along with their death dates. The final image was the family back on the couch, but in the hyper-realistic form that Bart's lifeless body was drawn in.

There's even a whole backstory to the episode, which starts with Matt Groening starting to act very strange and disconnected, and people were forbidden from talking about it. It's a captivating tale, and one that's often repeated as an actual fact of Simpsons history. Except, of course, it was all made up on Creepypasta. D'oh!
