14 Things Fox Wants You To Forget About The Simpsons

10. Tower One

Pivoting again here, although within the realms of something that did actually happen, but it where Fox wanting us to forget it is completely justifiable.

In Season 9 premiere, The City of New York vs Homer Simpson, the family travels to New York to reclaim the family car, which was dumped in Manhattan, just outside the World Trade Centre, by Barney, and has since received numerous parking tickets.

While it's a good episode, it was understandably pulled from syndication in the aftermath of 9/11, due to the repeated shots and mentions of the WTC. It eventually returned to broadcast after a few years, but as an edited version. Most notably, a line from a man in Tower 2 was cut out completely: "They stick all the jerks in Tower One."

Again, it's easy to see why this was pulled, and Bill Oakley has since said that in retrospect the line was "regrettable."

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
