14 Things Fox Wants You To Forget About The Simpsons

7. The Family Guy Rape Joke

The crossover episode between The Simpsons and Family Guy was heavily promoted by Fox, bringing together two of their biggest shows of all time, and ones that had long had something of a rivalry between them.

The episode itself, which saw the Griffins arriving in Springfield and staying with the Simpsons after their car was stolen, wasn't great, although it did have a couple of decent moments. However, the one that garnered the headlines was a prank phone call scene between Bart, Stewie, and Moe. It results in Stewie calling the bartender, and saying: "Your sister is being raped."

The joke caused a fair bit of controversy, especially as it went against the more family friendly nature of The Simpsons, with the President of the Parents Television Council speaking out against it.
