Tired with how her life has been going since Buffy came to town, Cordelia wishes her away in the presence of Anya, who at this time is an evil vengeance demon out to make men pay for their ways.

Thrust into a world where Buffy never came to Sunnydale, Cordelia quickly learns that having her around wasn't actually that bad in the long run. With Buffy gone, The Master has risen up and taken over the town. Vampires rule - Willow and Xander have been sired, Angel has been captured and tortured, and Giles and Oz have formed a small and unprepared band of vampire hunters.

But before Cordy can tell anyone about her wish, she's killed by Willow and Xander and Giles is forced to call in Buffy for her help.

Dark, alternate reality episodes offer up a lot of potential, and The Wish nails it right out the gate. Buffy returns and tries to kill The Master, only to die at his hands as she did (originally) in season one before Giles saves the day and sets the world right.

It's fun, violent, dark and exciting, and allows each actor involved the chance to play different versions of their established characters, with great results.
