“Oh, aye. Six-and-ten for him, and three for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds, she said. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

While the first part of Maggy’s prophecy was included in the show, and has come to pass, the second part wasn’t even mentioned in the Cersei flashback in Season 5. Is that because it’s irrelevant, or because it gives the game away?

At this point it almost doesn’t matter, because while Cersei has no shortage of enemies, there are very few who deserve to be the ones who kill her. Tyrion has already killed one Lannister, so it shouldn’t be him. The two best remaining options are Arya and Jaime, and the former should be learning to move on from vengeance.

That leaves us with Jaime. He could’ technically, be the Valonqar (he’s the younger twin). But more than that, it fits his arc. He destroyed his reputation by killing the ruling monarch to save King’s Landing. How fitting it would be if he earns his redemption by killing another to save King’s Landing once more, yet everyone knows it this time. And yet, how tragic too: not only does he complete his redemption by killing his sister, but also the woman he has loved for most of his life. Jaime would likely have to die not long after, but given how intrinsically linked the pair are, it makes sense for one to end the other’s life. It’s almost too poetic.
