15 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of The 21st Century

10. Westworld

The X-Files
HBO

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Jurassic Park author/ sci-fi genius Michael Crichton, HBO’s Westworld had some obscure shoes to fill when it debuted a few years ago.

The dark, extremely adult series was set to be the sci-fi Game of Thrones according to its advertising and the size of its budget, but the story of a theme park inhabited by robots beginning to gain sentience and rebel against their abusers was stranger and trippier than the earlier 1973 film adaptation of the novel starring Yul Brynner.

Featuring an ensemble cast including a hammy Anthony Hopkins and a faultless Evan Rachel Wood, this one is must-see viewing for anyone interested in the morality of technology’s endless march—and for pulpy sci-fi fans, too.
