15 Best Scrubs Episodes
1. My Lunch/My Fallen Idol (Season 5, Episode 20/21)
"The moment you start blaming yourself for peoples deaths, there's no coming back."
The number one pick, though, is another two-parter. My Lunch and My Fallen Idol form a larger story in which the typically tough and usually emotionless Dr Cox hits rock bottom after an outbreak of rabies causes many of his patients to die needlessly. Unable to cope with the loss and failure, he slips into a spiral of despair, drinking and blaming himself for the tragedy.
Throughout all this, JD tries his hardest to keep his mentor moving, and though he hits some bumps, he knows he can reach him, and knows he has to. The stand-out moments of the episodes are John C. McGinley's angry, passionate performance in My Lunch, and JD's speech in My Fallen Idol, acted to perfection by Braff as he pulls Cox from his depression.
No episode better captures the heart and soul, the comedy and the drama, of Scrubs than My Lunch and My Fallen Idol, and for that reason it's the best chapter the show has ever given us.
