13. My Dumb Luck (Season 7, Episode 9)
"I guess I just wanted to end my career on my own terms, you know?"
Bob Kelso was always the most elusive aspect of Scrubs, the Chief of Medicine who very rarely showed his sweet side but always had the hospital's best interests at heart. He was always presented as the bad guy of the show, really, usually acting as an obstacle to the other characters and their work.
In My Dumb Luck, the veteran doctor reflects on his career as the hospital's board of directors begins to push him into retirement. Meanwhile, Carla and Elliot try to get people to support Kelso so he can keep his job, and JD and Turk seize an opportunity to solve a problem Cox has always struggled with.
Once more, My Dumb Luck mixes the humour with the drama beautifully, and serves as a fitting - and totally in-character - send-off to Bob Kelso's stint as Chief of Medicine.
