13. Community - Emotional Consequences Of Broadcast Television

I let you go, Annie. From my hands and my head. The heart, which cynics say is code for penis, wants what it wants. But I let you go. It feels like we've been here before with Community - at least a couple of occasions when it felt the show was done and not coming back - but this episode, the finale of Season 6, really does feel like a definitive ending for the series. If that does prove to be the case, then it's an extremely fitting way to go out. It was a bittersweet finale in the most Community way possible. Noting that their time at Greendale is coming to end, the study group imagines what a hypothetical Season 7 would look like. Abed breaks it down in a formulaic way, because it's Abed; Dean Pelton envisions Shirley back and friends with Elroy; Chang's features a new character called Ice Cube Head. Jeff has multiple versions of how it will go in his head, most of them relating to his fears of being left alone at Greendale. It ends with Annie getting a job with the FBI, but not before Jeff kisses her goodbye. Abed leaves too, to go work on a sitcom. Jeff joins the remaining members at Britta's bar, where they share in a toast, before the screen fades to black and '#andamovie' appears on the screen. We can but hope.
