12. The Bad Batch

Made for Love
Disney+

Though it's not quite finished its first-season run as of this writing, The Bad Batch has already effortlessly proved itself a worthy sequel to the megahit The Clone Wars, which came to a spotless end just last year.

Sporting the same slick animation and dark tone of its predecessor's later years, the series follows the titular Bad Batch - a group of abnormal and incredibly unorthodox clones - as they flee from the ravages of Order 66 and attempt to survive in a world far removed from the one they once knew.

With sharp characterisation and memorable call-backs to the wider Star Wars universe, The Bad Batch is, at its core, a character piece, observing a group of already-troubled soldiers as they try to find their place in a world even less accepting than the one that came before it. On the flipside, it's also a no-holds-barred action-thriller with great battle sequences, striking humour and shock twists.

As noted, it's not quite finished its first run just yet, but it's hard to imagine it'll drop the ball now.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
