15 Best TV Shows Of 2024 (So Far)
13. Extraordinary (Season 2)
It's been a seriously great year for TV comedy, a stark contrast to previous years where prestige dramas dominated the airwaves (back when Succession and Better Call Saul reigned supreme).
Extraordinary, which ran its underseen first season at the start of 2023, has returned to stake its claim as one of the funniest shows on TV this year with a second season so wild and creatively jubilant it's nothing short of a joy to witness.
In a world where everyone is imbued with superpowers at 18, powerless twentysomething Jen (the brilliantly dry Máiréad Tyers) continues to navigate her unique circumstance with hilarious results... and just enough heartbreak and human complexity to keep the show from being buried by its wonderful whimsy.
With effortless laughs and ingenious worldbuilding, Extraordinary is one in a long line of small-screen gems proving that superheroes can still be exciting, and it's one of the best comedies around, to boot. Hopefully, it gets a third-season renewal soon - that cliffhanger is a doozy.
