15 Best TV Shows Of The Last 25 Years

1. Sex and the City (1998€“2004)

sex_and_the_city_ Four beautiful female New Yorkers gossip about their sex-lives (or lack thereof) and find new ways to deal with being a woman in the 90€s. I have never met a woman in my age range that has not seen, and what's more, loved, this show - and that's saying something. This is not a classic American show. It had a lot of dark moments, difficult storylines that were hard to watch, sex scenes that were sometimes too realistic, and women who were amazingly imperfect. Even Sarah Jessica Parker, who was considered really hot (really? Have you seen the ridiculous amazing bodies of Kim Catrall and Kristin Davis?) was all screwed up, and it was glorious. Even though she was a cheater, a smoker, addicted to shoes and clothes, somehow living in this perfect apartment while only writing a column...despite all of that, we wanted her to be with Big, wanted her to be happy. I even liked the first movie they put out, it was small and sweet. The second one was horrific, but we won't go into that here. I repeat again my ongoing theme €“ the focus was not the men or the clothes or the smoking or the apartments. It was the friendship. These four women (on the show at least) were in love with each other, and best friends, for real. Which TV shows of the last 25 years are your favourite? Let us know in the comments below.

Born in Israel, but raised partly in the UK, Shira is rather an odd duck. She will get in your face with her opinion, but will then be super polite to the waitress serving her a cocktail, no matter how bad the service is. Movies are her passion, along with good TV, music, and Shakespeare. She loves to sing and goes to karaoke a lot, too. She will do anything creative, and will resort to finger painting if necessary. Shira also, apparently, enjoys writing about herself in third person, which is weird. But she just finished her first Fantasy novel, and it's not about her, so that's ok. Shira is very glad to be a part of WhatCulture!
